Research Fellow (Feb 2015-present)

Chief Responsibilities: fluorescent light microscopy in fixed and live cells/tissues; maintaining cell culture populations; molecular biology based techniques for histological sample preparation/staining/analysis (PCR, in situ hybrisidation, immunohistochemistry), experiment design and implementing new research idea trials; liaise with lab manager and companies for molecular biology and microscopy equipment; presentation of data to scientific minded audience; writing and review of manuscripts and grants.

Macquarie University (Australian School of Advanced Medicine)

Senior Research Officer Microscopy (Jul 2014-Feb 2015)

Chief Responsibilities: Maintain microscope facilities and equipment; enable access to other on campus microscopy facilities. Provide technical support and training sessions for 100+ professional academic staff and students on microscopy equipment including: epifluorescent upright Zeiss and Leica, inverted epifluorescent Leica, Leica confocal with white light laser. Manage ASAM molecular hub- assist in training staff and students in molecular biology based techniques (PCR, in situ hybrisidation, immunohistochemistry, microscopy and data analysis), assure compliance to WHS standards and practice.

Chief responsibilities: 6 hours per week lecturing to 70 students on neuroanatomy and the basics of neurotransmission; grading student reports.

Chief responsibilities: coordination of all laboratory research activities and supply ordering; liaison for product representatives from scientific companies; management and training of all safety protocols, hazardous waste disposal and schedule class drug logbooks; conducting molecular biology research; assistance in the review and submission of manuscripts and a program project grant.
